GUPPY'S GULFSIDE GALLOP - Saturday, April 7th; 8 a.m. Indian Rocks Beach County Park, 1700 Gulf Blvd. This annual 5K Run and 1 mile Walk/Fun Run along the beach is sponsored by the Indian Rocks Beach Homeowners Association. Plan to stay for Beauty & the Beach, IRB's annual beach festival and arts & crafts show. REGISTER ONLINE NOW! (by midnight April 5th) REGISTER BY MAIL NOW! (mailed by April 3rd) HOA FIRST QUARTER MEMBERSHIP MEETING (MEET THE CANDIDATES NIGHT CANCELLED) - Monday, February 6th; 7 p.m. Indian Rocks Beach City Hall Auditorium. (This meeting replaces Candidates Night since there is no March 2012 municipal election in IRB.) OUR NEXT HOA HAPPY HOUR - Thursday, February 9th; 6-7:30 p.m. at The Pub, 20025 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores. The folks at The Pub have never failed to show us a good time and this year will be no exception. Join us for complimentary appetizers, discounted drink prices and great neighbors, while supporting our local bars and restaurants. If you have a new neighbor who isn't familiar with the fine art of "Happy Houring with the Homeowners," please bring them along. They'll thank you for it! FEBRUARY BOAT CLUB MEETING - Thursday, February 16th; 6 p.m. Happy Hour/7 p.m. Meeting at Jimmy Guana's, Holiday Inn Harbourside. The IRB Boat Club is a FREE organization. ANNUAL BOAT CLUB BRUNCH AT THE ISLAND WAY GRILL - Sunday, February 26th; 12 p.m./Noon, 20 Island Way, Clearwater Beach. Don't miss one of the most popular events of the year! Over 80 attended last year and we fully expect to beat that record. Come by land or sea and meet at the restaurant at noon. The private outdoor deck has been reserved for us again this year. HOW MUCH FUN DID THE BOAT CLUB HAVE ON ITS FIRST OUTING OF THE YEAR AT THE PUB? See PHOTOS! 12TH AVENUE PARK LIGHTING -Next time you drive past the 12th Avenue Park across from USA Grocers at night, be sure to ooo and aah over the new lighting recently installed by Ivy Slotnick and HOA Board Member Lance Corragio of Wired Island...funded by...you guessed it...the profits generated by our IRB Homeowners Association events. (Our efforts donated new decorations for the Christmas tree, too!)
BEACH BOXES FOR TROOPS-ROUND 2
Fittingly, IRB Homeowners member Bob Mecca deposited our second shipment of Beach Boxes at the IRB Post Office the day after Veterans Day. They will arrive in the hands of five military servicemen and women with connections to our area stationed in the Middle East in approximately nine days. The boxes included some holiday goodies, letters of thanksgiving from children at the COTI School, and even a few things they can share with others. (Our first servicewoman was among this group of recipients!) The group photo of appreciative residents (above) was taken at the Taste of IRB and included in a personal letter to each recipient. Once again, Homeowners member (and former board member) Jacque Enderle stepped up to flawlessly coordinate this effort...so that those who serve our country know how much we appreciate their sacrifice...especially during the holidays. We plan to ship Beach Boxes every quarter, so if you know of servicemen and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, etc. with relatives in or connections to our area, or would like to donate items and/or money to help support the program, e-mail us at info@irbhome.com. THANK YOU TO ALL THE BOATERS WHO MADE THE IRB 25TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY LIGHTED BOAT PARADE on December 17th the BEST ONE in years! Wow. Great weather. Good friends and a reminder how lucky we are to enjoy "warm" holidays. TOYS ARE US!! Thank you to all who attended our Annual Holiday Toy Drive & Happy Hour on Thursday, December 8th! Century 21 Beggins, 1511 Gulf Blvd., provided an amazing evening of fun, music and Christmas cheer and the Red Lion graciously donated a couple kegs of beer for the event. This was Beggins first year as host and they really kicked it up a notch. We danced, sang, partied and collected a ton of toys that will be sure to put smiles on many little deserving faces this season. The best news is that Beggins has invited us back again next year! The Indian Rocks Beach Homeowners Association is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization founded in 1970 and dedicated to promoting community unity in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. To our city of less than three miles along the Gulf of Mexico, we provide opportunities for our 4,100 residents to meet neighbors and business leaders in friendly and informal settings at various adult and family social events throughout the year. Proceeds from our events are donated back to the community to fund various worthwhile projects to improve the overall health and well-being of the community we all love.
